A Desire to Adopt Kids
By K. Roberts| January 1, 2023
Always Wanted to Be
I've always wanted to be a parent. I've wanted to have children for as long as I can remember. However, I never considered adopting when I was in college because it seemed out of reach and unattainable for someone like me: young and single with no financial stability.
My past is littered with exciting stories about working with kids in the community, particularly those from difficult backgrounds. I love it when I can help kids see themselves as being outside of their current situation or inspire them to dream big. My varied, community-led programs included not only STEM learning and career exploration but also fun activities during playtime.
I normally fit right in with the local kids when it comes to outdoor sports and activities such as biking, soccer, swimming, hiking, ice skating, snowboarding, running, and exploring local lakes and streams because I am a naturally active person. What excites me about doing outdoor activities with kids is their eagerness to learn something new.
Children Without Families
I believe that by providing a safe environment for children without families, I can make a difference in their lives. A healthy environment is one that is built on trust, healing, respect, forgiveness, and support rather than the establishment of rules or authority. I enjoy traveling, so I plan to take my children around the world to learn about different cultures, traditions, and foods.
I am passionate about assisting children who need someone to care for them, and I believe that fostering an environment where they can thrive physically and emotionally will fulfill my desire to adopt children. I want to give my future children a safe place to grow and learn, as well as teach them how to maintain healthy relationships with others so that they can live successful lives as adults.
Kids Are a Gift From God
As a Christian and a prospective parent, I believe that all children are God's gifts. That doesn't mean they're all perfect or easy, but it does mean we should approach parenting with the understanding that our children are His as well as ours. Treating them in this manner motivates us to be better parents by strengthening our faith and relationship with Him.
So, as Christ's followers, those of us considering adoption can rely on His strength and guidance, not to mention the unwavering support of our local church communities that stands with us along the way.
Being a parent was never meant to be an easy journey but being a child of God is an opportunity worth sharing with children who need hope.
